Classic Residence by Hyatt Selects MobileAccess In-Building Wireless Solution for Multiple Communities
MobileAccess and Technology Plus Inc. Design and Deploy Comprehensive Wireless Infrastructure for Four Senior Living Communities
Vienna, Va.—April 20, 2009—MobileAccess, the global provider of enterprise wireless solutions, and Technology Plus, Inc., a design and consulting firm for building technology, today announced that the companies were selected by Classic Residence by Hyatt, a leading provider of retirement living for older adults, to deliver comprehensive in-building wireless solutions at four senior living communities in Arizona, California and Colorado. The MobileAccess Encover multi-service wireless infrastructure ensures that Classic Residence is able to provide seamless wireless availability throughout its communities and meet the needs of its residents, who expect the highest levels of service, convenience and connectivity.
Classic Residence by Hyatt offers senior living at 20 communities from coast to coast. For Classic Residence, providing an environment suitable for the discerning needs, expectations and lifestyle of its residents included ensuring dependable wireless coverage for 21st century communications, as well as safety. After evaluating several solutions, Classic Residence selected the MobileAccess Encover in-building wireless solution for four communities: Highlands Ranch in Colorado, Palo Alto and La Jolla Village both in California, and Silverstone in Arizona. Technology Plus, Inc., a company specializing in the design and management of telecommunication systems, assisted in the evaluation of the technology, managed the Request for Proposal (RFP) process and provided implementation project management at each project site.
“Classic Residence by Hyatt has a commitment to delivering a first-class experience for residents at all of our communities and wireless coverage was an essential part of ensuring both seamless communication and safety,” said Brian Cleveland, IT director, Classic Residence by Hyatt. “In selecting a solution for Highlands Ranch, Palo Alto, La Jolla Village and Silverstone, we looked for flexibility, easy maintenance and future-ready technology. MobileAccess delivered on all fronts. With MobileAccess’ technology, we are able to support multiple cellular carriers, Wi-Fi and public safety applications all on a single infrastructure that will easily grow to support evolving wireless needs for years to come.”
The MobileAccess Encover solution provides a flexible and adaptable architecture that distributes wireless signals seamlessly throughout large buildings and across campuses. This multi-service solution ensures support for current and future WLAN applications, voice and data services from multiple carriers, and the full range of cellular-based public safety services and wireless applications required by first responders and emergency personnel. In addition, the MobileAccess architecture centralizes equipment neatly into telecommunications closets, making upgrades and repairs efficient and discreet, and ensuring that the elegant interiors and “at-home” atmosphere of the Classic Residence by Hyatt communities are not undermined.
Completed Classic Residence by Hyatt projects include:
- Highlands Ranch, Colo.––The 600,000-square-foot Classic Residence by Hyatt set on 24 acres in Highlands Ranch just south of Denver opened in September 2008. MobileAccess’ in-building wireless solution ensures support for AT&T, Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile cellular services, as well as helps Classic Residence meet new Colorado fire safety ordinances, which require facilities to effectively amplify public safety radio signals.
- Palo Alto, Calif.––Situated close to Silicon Valley, this Classic Residence by Hyatt was designed to meet the needs of particularly technology savvy residents at its Palo Alto community. Classic Residence began retrofitting the residence, which was built eight years ago, in early July 2008, adding comprehensive wireless coverage to more than 1 million square feet of building space.
- La Jolla Village, San Diego, Calif.––La Jolla Village, a 12-year-old property, opened its second 21-floor, 200-apartment tower in early July 2008. Classic Residence by Hyatt deployed the MobileAccess wireless system for the new construction and added the technology to floors and areas of the first tower where wireless signals previously did not reach, ensuring flawless wireless coverage throughout the community.
- Silverstone, Scottsdale, Ariz.––The second Classic Residence by Hyatt property in Scottsdale, Silverstone is scheduled to open in 2010. The new community will include MobileAccess’ technology.
“Our extensive work in hospitality has made it clear that wireless is now a must-have amenity and, increasingly, a matter of security compliance, for hotels and residential communities,” said Ron Wells, VP Marketing and Business Development at MobileAccess. “Classic Residence by Hyatt is setting a new technology standard for senior living communities by delivering cutting-edge in-building wireless systems at four of its properties. With MobileAccess, Classic Residence not only achieves its goal of delivering seamless coverage for residents, but also ensures that its wireless infrastructure investment will continue to yield returns for years to come.”
