MobileAccess Networks Capitalizes on Growing Market for Enterprise Wireless Solutions
Enterprise Wireless Innovator Wraps Up Banner Year, Poised for Significant Growth and Wider Vertical Market Adoption of Its Univ
Vienna, Virginia–January 30, 2006 – MobileAccess Networks, an enterprise wireless innovator, announced today that the company’s momentum surged in 2005 on increased demand for enterprise wireless network solutions. Fueled by the adoption of its Universal Wireless Network across a broad spectrum of markets, including financial services, high-tech manufacturing and government, as well as new provider markets such as sports facilities, hotels and cruise liners, MobileAccess experienced double-digit growth in their overall business. Continuing in its heritage of setting the pace for the enterprise wireless industry, the company introduced an innovative infrastructure solution for hospitals, securing a major partnership with GE Healthcare and several industry accolades along the way. The company also paved the way for expansion by acquiring additional venture capital and strengthening its management team. With enterprise wireless network spending expected to accelerate, MobileAccess is poised for significant growth in 2006.
“2005 was a significant year for MobileAccess,” said Cathy Zatloukal, president and CEO of MobileAccess. “As the portability needs of corridor warriors and mobility needs of road warriors converge in the enterprise, organizations are increasingly aware of the need for a complete enterprise-wide wireless solution, especially one that can support multiple services and applications. In 2006, we look forward to addressing the building market demand for our Universal Wireless Network, which delivers seamless wireless connectivity, opens new channels of communication, and easily scales to meet organizations’ dynamic and evolving wireless requirements.”
In 2005, MobileAccess continued its success as IT professionals embraced the Universal Wireless Network for its ability to deliver Wi-Fi and a host of other wireless services over a common infrastructure. The Wi-Fi configuration was the fastest growing product in the company’s portfolio, showing greater than 100 percent increase in the number of systems sold in 2005. This multi-service flexibility not only provides corporations with a compelling business case, but also lowers the cost of delivering Wi-Fi and cellular services into everything from public venues to hotels to cruise liners. Some of the new customers in 2005 include Oakland International Airport (OAK); ALLTEL Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla., site of the 2005 Super Bowl; and the newly completed Katzen Arts Center at American University in Washington, D.C.
In the healthcare sector, MobileAccess aggressively promoted its hospital-specific solutions and secured key customer wins and partnerships. MobileAccess’ solutions were installed at the brand new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) campus in Atlanta, Ga., as well as Clarian North Medical Center in Indianapolis, Denver Health, St. Mary’s/Duluth Clinic Health System, and WakeMed Health & Hospitals, in Raleigh, N.C.
MobileAccess announced an exclusive, worldwide agreement with GE Healthcare to deliver the GE Enterprise Access solution. GE Enterprise Access is designed to help hospitals deploy a full range of critical wireless services and applications, including Wi-Fi, paging, and public safety radio, over a single network infrastructure. The joint solution will help bring the power of wireless computing to every physician, patient, and operating room, delivering a competitive advantage to hospitals and enabling them to boost efficiency, cut costs and improve patient safety and quality of care.
“Our recent report, ‘Wireless Data in the Healthcare Arena,’ finds that spending for wireless healthcare applications will reach $7 billion by 2010,” said John C. Williams, managing director, The FocalPoint Group. “Solutions that enable healthcare organizations to support a full range of wireless applications, services and devices over a common infrastructure and deliver a unique combination of cost savings, reliability and scalability, are well positioned to tap into this burgeoning market.”
MobileAccess continued to earn industry recognition in 2005. TechTarget’s SearchNetworking.com named the Universal Wireless Network “Product of the Year” in the WLAN Equipment and Applications category. In addition, Gartner named MobileAccess a “Cool Vendor” in the Mobile and Wireless industry. The company also received an “IT Executives’ Choice” award at the Gartner Healthcare Summit.
The venture capital community is bullish on the enterprise wireless space. In 2005, MobileAccess investors infused an additional round of capital into the company to fuel its accelerated growth. To date, MobileAccess has secured more than $40 million in venture capital. The company then strengthened its executive team with the appointment of wireless industry veteran, Magnus Friberg, to Chief Operating Officer. In addition, MobileAccess announced that Reuben Mezrich, M.D., Ph.D., professor and chairman of the University of Maryland School of Medicine’s Department of Radiology, joined the company’s healthcare advisory board.
